Two Oakland artists take on a massive mural in the city's downtown, only to find themselves at the center of the debate over gentrification and cultural resiliency.
Destiny Muhammad is a recording/ performing artist in the singer-songwriter fashion on Harp. Her genre ‘Celtic to Coltrane’ is cool and eclectic with a feel of Jazz & storytelling to round out the sonic experience. Destiny has opened for The Oakland East Bay Symphony, shared the stage with Jazz Masters Calvin Keyes, Marcus Shelby, Omar Sosa, Ambrose Akisemuire,and Jazz Divas Diane Witherspoon & Denise Perrier to name a few. She has also headlined for the 'Women in Jazz' Concert series and the AfroSolo String Virtuoso Concert Series San Francisco. Destiny is the Principle Harpist for the Eddie Gale Inner Peace Orchestra, the Oakland Public Conservatory Orchestra and the Oakland Community Orchestra. Destiny is Governor Emeritus and Educational Chair Emeritus of the Recording Academy, Jazz Heritage Center of San Francisco Jazz Ambassador and an ASCAP Songwriter Awardee.
